Kvalita vládnutí a výdaje na obranu
Dostál, Pavel
The thesis examines two phenomena, namely defence spending and the quality of governance. The selected countries in which these two phenomena are examined in this thesis are selected countries of different world organizations or geograph-ical regions. To fully understand the issue, a section of the thesis is devoted to the description of the selected regions and their evolution. Subsequently, the phenom-ena of governance quality are described, and their determinants are examined. Both phenomena and their development are studied separately and then their in-terdependence and connection is examined. The conclusion is devoted to an as-sessment of the connection between the two issues.

1 Defence by the defence counsel in the trial Abstract The aim of this thesis is not only to analyse the legal regulation concerning the defence counsel and the defence in the main trial, and to provide the reader with a de lege lata view on this issue, but also to provide de lege ferenda considerations for some legal institutes. The thesis also provides the reader with a comparison of the current legal regulation and the current version of the draft of the new Criminal Procedure Code (as of 14 October 2022) on selected criminal procedure issues. The content of the thesis is divided into an introduction, four parts and a conclusion. The introduction briefly justifies the choice of this topic and sets out the objectives to be achieved in the thesis. Defence of a legal person in criminal proceedings and issues related to the defence
Kalousová, Simona ; Jelínek, Jiří (advisor) ; Šelleng, Dalibor (referee)
Defence of a legal person in criminal proceedings and issues related to the defence Abstract The rigorous thesis deals with the definition of problems of the procedural part of the law on criminal liability of legal persons and related problems arising from the Criminal Procedure Code. Problems related to the criminal liability of legal persons appear in the Czech legislation and in the legislation of other countries of the continental legal culture mainly due to the adoption of the institute from the Anglo-American legal culture. The Czech legal system was based on the criminal liability of natural persons only and the incorporation of the new institute thus requires a certain adaptation of the legal system. Moreover, the nature of a legal person is inherently problematic given its specific nature. The author selects the most important problems of the procedural part of the law, analyses them and assesses the suitability of the current legal regulation. Subsequently, the author compares the identified problems with foreign legislation of the countries of the continental legal system. The author considers the most significant problems of the Czech legislation to be the absolute exclusion of the institute of necessary defence for legal persons, problems related to the person of the guardian and problems...
The shaping of Russia's Arctic strategy
Fritzen, Johan ; Doboš, Bohumil (advisor) ; Romancov, Michael (referee)
The Shaping of Russia's Arctic strategy Abstract Dramatic and rapid shifts are brought about by climate changes to the Arctic geography: Arctic Ocean ice recedes and leave behind resources and sea lanes that traditionally were out of reach to man. This potentially leads to conflict between the coastal states which have overlapping resource claims in the region, different forms of statehood, and diverging security priorities. The changes are felt the strongest in Russia which is investing in Arctic infrastructure to accommodate oil and gas extraction, in addition to a slowly opening intercontinental trade route along her Northern shores. Arctic extraction is a means of increasing economic output and the maritime route to Asia ensures a diversified market which is unlikely to engage in trade sanctions to the same extent as Europe. Melting Arctic ice has repercussions in the defence sphere as well: traditionally protected against invasions from the North by a frozen ocean, Russia's Arctic coastline is becoming exposed to foreign powers. This has sparked a Russian military build-up in the region, inspiring her neighbouring Arctic states to consider their regional defence - not as a response to changed climatic conditions, but to Russia's rhetoric and actions. Both the economic flexibility stemming from Arctic...
Predators and antipredator defence of Auchenorrhyncha (Hemiptera)
Zeman, Šimon ; Raška, Jan (advisor) ; Michalko, Radek (referee)
Auchenorrhyncha are one of the species-richest groups of hemimetabolous insects. They feed mostly on plant sap and play an important role in food webs of various ecosystems; for humans, they are important mainly as pests of several crops. Because of their occurrence in many habitats, they are often preyed upon by number of predators, including both vertebrates and invertebrates. However, Auchenorrhyncha implement various anti-predator defences to avoid it. This thesis summarizes available information about predation of Auchenorrhyncha and shortly deals with hunting behaviour of selected predators. In the second part, anti-predatory strategies and their occurrence in different Auchenorrhyncha groups are summarized. Furthermore, potential predators affected by those defences are discussed.
Ontogeny of soldier behaviour and its polyethism in termites
Homolka, Petr ; Šobotník, Jan (advisor) ; Frouz, Jan (referee)
The presence of soldier caste is an important synapomorphy of group Isoptera. The adaptation of this caste to defense tasks is more than obvious and some of their morphological or even behavioral adaptations can be quite impressive. The polyethism in termites is relatively well known inbetween rather worker caste. If there are such a studies pointing at polyethism in soldiers, they are connected with soldier polymorphism. The morphological differences are of course important stimulus to role separation. The goal of this thesis was to examine the polyethism in the species of the termite with monomorphic soldiers - Prorhinotermes simplex. I did behavioral experiments with it in enclosed arenas, recorded on specific days. The data shows, that there are differences inbetween individuals and it would be benefical to invest further time to subsequent studies. The thesis bring out new point of view to defensive behaviour of termites and suggests, that even termite species without polymorphic species may have soldiers with different tasks. Besides I managed to map ontogeny of soldier behaviour in the first two weeks after moulting from presoldier instar. Anglo-French defence cooperation as reaction to defence spending cuts
Zajíček, Jakub ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Čížek, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with military partnership of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with France at the time between the end of the Cold War and the signing of agreements to increase defence cooperation at conference in London in November 2010. This paper analyses the various factors that have contributed to the development of cooperation between these two countries and to aims to prove or disprove the thesis that the reason for an unprecedented convergence of Britain and France in the defence sector in 2010 are budget cuts, with which then British government responded to the economic crisis. This topic is divided into three chapters due to a need of separate analysis of individual factors. In the first part the study deals with the dynamics and development of military cooperation between both countries after the Cold War, with emphasis on the conclusions of the London summit in 2010. The second part analyses the financial situation of the Ministry of Defence in the period since 1990. The corresponding chapter examines the response and specific measures of the Ministry of Defence to a lack of resources to meet the required demands and the reasons why the development of cooperation between Britain and France had not occurred previously. The third part is devoted to the...

Růžička, Josef ; Pokorný, Ladislav (advisor) ; Kuhnová, Věra (referee)
Title: Proposal on the optimal basketball training method within the physical education of children in older school age Author: Josef Růžička The study aims to find optimal theoretical model of basketball training method within the course of physical education at primary schools and general secondary schools. We focus on children in older school age. The objective is to make basketball training more effective as well as more familiar to teachers that are lacking more complex or personal experience with this sport. We use the method of experiment. First, the numbers of testing exercises to detect the level of general game skills of the children were defined. Then the model of teaching method consisting of ten setting-up (introductory) exercises was developed and implemented into a complete semestral plan. At the beginning of experiment, two groups of children were tested for their general game skills. Then our proposed model was applied onto these two groups. We aimed to develop model of teaching that would help to improve and develop basketball skills of children. At the end of experiment period were children's basketball game skills tested again to see what extend was our proposed model successful. The results proved that proposed method of teaching was appropriate, since both groups of children...
